Croatian Language Course Ends
Zagreb, Center for Asylum Seekers Porin – October 19th, 2018 – Students received diplomas for a successfully finished Croatian language course.
A ceremony was held in the Center for Asylum seekers Porin in Zagreb for the students who successfully finished Croatian language course organized by Croatian Baptist Aid.
Croatian language course was done in 140 hours of class after which the students took an A1 category exam of Croatian language proficiency. The course was done according to the program for Croatian language for foreigners and the standard modules. The test was done according to the standard frame for language testing (CFCR).
End exam had two parts, a written and an oral part in which the students gave a presentation in Croatian about the country they are coming from with the help of video and Powerpoint presentation. The students were graded by mag. Noemi Kreko and prof. Nataša Stojanovski, who with their effort and motivation managed to successfully bring the course to its end.
After the exam was held, Toma Magda, CBA Director, gave the students their diplomas. A student from the Philippines had the best result, 95 % of accuracy.
Students' family members, friends, workers in the Center, as well as the colleagues from other humanitarian organizations working in Porin, were all present at the ceremony.
A big logistical help during the course was given by Croatian Baptist Aid Coordinator, Željko Čanji, as well as the interpreter, Omid Noghandost.
After the ceremony there was a small banquet. What was encouraging, not just the knowledge gained and efforts of the teachers and students, were the questions of the students for a higher level Croatian language course to be held in the future. The students' wish is to be better prepared for the process of integration, and in that they recognized the importance of knowing the language and the culture as the first step in that process.
