CBAid at National Prayer Breakfast in Washington
Washington D.C., February 6th, 2020 – CBAid co-founder and coordinator for international projects and cooperation, Elvis Džafić, attended the 68th annual National Prayer Breakfast
The National Prayer Breakfast, held in the Hilton hotel in Washington D.C., gathered world leaders around the topic “Love your enemy”. CBAid was represented by co-founder and coordinator for international projects and cooperation, Elvis Džafić, who participated as part of the Croatian delegation.
The key-note speaker for this year’s event was Arthur C. Brooks, social scientist and writer, who published a book under the topic “Love your enemies”. He stated that the burning crisis in the US today is the crisis of contempt and polarization, and it can only be countered by loving our enemies, as Jesus taught us. “No one has ever been insulted into agreement. You can only persuade by love.” he stated, addressing the US and world political and social leaders.
Elvis Džafić also used the opportunity to meet with several Balkan leaders to address the issue of migrations in southeastern Europe. He had the opportunity to share about CBAid’s projects and endeavors in providing aid and support to those in need. It was an opportunity to network and share experiences, which can ultimately lead to new ideas and hopefully solutions to the global migration and refugee crisis.
